Lt. Gov. McKee, Municipal Leaders to Host Energy-Shopping Info Sessions Across Blackstone Valley

PROVIDENCE, RI – Beginning on Wednesday September 6th, Lt. Governor Dan McKee will partner with municipal leaders in the Blackstone Valley to host Empower RI information sessions to help ratepayers safely shop for alternate electricity suppliers and save on their electric bills.

During the information sessions, members of Lt. Governor McKee’s staff will be available to answer questions about Empower RI (www.ri.gov/EmpowerRI), an energy-shopping website McKee helped launch in 2016. Staff members will also demonstrate how ratepayers can switch their supplier online and circumvent National Grid’s rate increase set to go into effect on October 1st.

The sessions are free and open to the public. Any resident wishing to learn more is asked to bring their most recent electric bill to one of the following sessions:

  • Lincoln Public Library, 145 Old River Rd, Lincoln, RI 02865, Wednesday September 6th, 6:00 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. with Town Administrator T. Joseph Almond
  • Pawtucket Public Library, 13 Summer St, Pawtucket, RI 02860, Thursday, September 7th, 4:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. with Mayor Donald Grebien
  • Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library, 100 Tinkham Ln, Harrisville, RI 02830, Thursday, September 7th, 6:30 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. with Town Manager Michael Wood

Over the next several weeks, the lieutenant governor’s office will continue to partner with municipal leaders to host Empower RI information sessions across the state.
