Governor McKee Names Mindy Penney to I-195 Redevelopment District Commission

 

PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Dan McKee announced today his nomination of Mindy Penney to serve on the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission. 

 

“Mindy is a proven innovator and entrepreneur. Her insight and expertise will be invaluable in helping us develop economic opportunities for Rhode Island,” said Governor Dan McKee. “I look forward to working with Mindy and the rest of the Commission to boost economic activity, support job growth and set our state up for long-term success.” 

 

“Mindy’s extensive experience and innovative approach in both the construction and manufacturing sectors, make her a great choice for this important role. Her track record in leading successful projects will undoubtedly contribute to the continued growth and revitalization of our state’s economic landscape,” said Secretary of Commerce Liz Tanner. 

 

“Mindy brings a critical perspective as an entrepreneur and a small business owner in the construction industry,” said Marc Crisafulli, Chairman of the I-195 Redevelopment District. “I thank Mindy for her interest in serving with us and look forward to working with her.” 

 

With more than 30 years experience in manufacturing and 15 in construction, Penney is the founder and CEO of Lindon Group, Inc., a Rhode Island-based, woman-owned distribution and rebar fabrication company serving all of New England. 

 

Prior to this role, Penney founded and served as the president/CEO of Lindon Product/Lindon Development Group, which specialized in product design and development, before it merged with Lindon Group in 2003. Penney led a team that spearheaded development for more than 70 products and patented several products including the Pocket ETK explosive testing kit used by the military. 

 

Penney is currently president of the board at Harmony Women’s Center and served on Providence College’s National Board of Overseers for a decade. She is a 1988 graduate of Providence College and received the 2019 Mal Brown Award, which recognizes alumni whose lives exemplify the love and loyalty for the school. 

 

“I have lived in Rhode Island my entire life and I know that the work of the I-195 Development District Commission is critical to the future of our state,” said Penney. “I believe that my industry experience will be an asset to the mission of the commission, and I’m excited for the opportunity to serve Rhode Island in this capacity. I thank Governor McKee for entrusting me with this role.” 

 

Penney’s name will be submitted to the Rhode Island Senate for advice and consent.
President Biden says Donald Trump's guilty verdict shows the American principle that "no one is above the law" was reaffirmed. While speaking at the White House today, Biden said the jury deliberated for five weeks and found Trump guilty, and now Trump has the right to appeal that decision, just like every other American. Biden criticized Trump for calling the trial rigged, adding it's dangerous to attack the justice system.        The Trump campaign is cashing in on Donald Trump's guilty verdict. Trump told reporters today his campaign has received about 39-million dollars in small-dollar donations since he was convicted Thursday. Major Republican donors, meanwhile, are rallying behind the former president, pledging millions of dollars of support for Trump's bid to return to the White House.        A major heat wave is headed for the western U.S. The National Weather Service is predicting an early summer heat wave that will start next week from northern Arizona to southern Washington, with excessive heat forecast for California's Central Valley and Nevada's Great Basin. The forecasters warn that temperatures will rise ten-to-15 degrees above normal across the West, and that the heat wave could last until mid-June.        The Florida deputy who shot and killed a Black airman in his home has been fired. On Friday, a statement from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Department said they found the deputy used excessive force when he shot Roger Forston earlier this month. Deputies responded to the wrong apartment and shot Forston after he opened the door.        Barack Obama's mother in-law Marian Robinson has died at the age of 86. The former President confirmed her death in a statement on social media. The family said Robinson was their backstop, a calm and nonjudgmental witness to their triumphs and stumbles. They said she passed away peacefully Friday morning and none of them are sure how they'll move on without her.        The fight between boxing legend Mike Tyson and internet star Jake Paul is being postponed. That's according to a statement from Paul's promotion company. It cites Tyson having to do minimal training due to an ulcer flare up he suffered on a flight last weekend as the reason for the postponement.
