Georgia voters are sending Democrat Raphael Warnock back to the Senate for six more years after going to the ballot twice. Tuesday's Senate runoff between Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker caps off a contentious month of campaigning. A razor-thin margin in the Senate amplified the seat's importance for both sides.       The Supreme Court will hear a case out of North Carolina today that could have long-lasting consequences for elections and democracy. At issue is whether a state court has the power to overrule the congressional district map drawn up by a state legislature. In this case, the court is being asked to weigh in on the gerrymandered map the state's Republican legislature drew that was later overturned by the North Carolina Supreme Court.       Ukrainian President Zelensky is Time magazine's Person of the Year. Time recognized Zelensky for his leadership during his country's war against Russia. The magazine also highlighted what it called "the spirit of Ukraine."       Thousands will gather in Hawaii today to mark the 81st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. On December 7th, 1941, Japanese warplanes attacked the naval base near Honolulu, killing over 24-hundred Americans and leading the U.S. into World War Two. "Hawaii News Now" says a commemoration ceremony will be held this morning at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial and an anniversary parade will be held this afternoon in Honolulu.       The annual defense funding bill that could get a House vote this week includes a repeal of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. House Democrats agreed to include language repealing the mandate for service members one year after it took effect in response to the pandemic that's killed more than a million Americans. The Pentagon and the Biden administration have supported keeping the mandate.       Northern Alaska is getting record-breaking warmth for December. Utqiagvik [[ oot kee OG vik ]], formerly known as Barrow, is one of the northernmost towns in the world and usually has high temperatures in the single digits this time of year. On Monday, the temperature in Utqiagvik soared up to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, shattering the record of 34 degrees set back in December of 1932.
